Gestern erhielten wir eine E-Mail von Ed Benguiat! Er schrieb uns, worüber er auf der TYPO 2008 sprechen möchte. Eds Ankündigung im O-Ton:

»Waving his ›Magical Wand‹ and speaking with his colorful (Brooklyn) accent, Ed Benguiat will take us through his typographic journey from BC (before computers) to the New York Scene which will absolutely blow you away. Many of them leading up to a remarkable story. Ed’s created about 600 fonts in his lifetime, (O.K. They’re not all great). You’ll see a few of them too.
Benguiat’s slide show/talk about typographic design could undoubtedly be the most exciting one ever held in Berlin. As in music, looking at the notes on a music score won’t sell the tune. You’ve got to HEAR IT orchestrated and arranged and played by the best musicians. He’s convinced that showing a font in an A-B-C format will not sell it either. You’ve got to SEE IT in action, typographically arranged exactly the way the designer had in mind. Each piece of designed typography should be, so to speak, a beautiful work of art within itself.
That’s what typographic communication is all about. ›Liberate the Letterform‹ With all that! You better look out or Ed will be surely put an alphabetical spell on you with his magic wand.«

Yang Liu – ist wieder unser Gast, und wird uns über ihr Piktogramm-Projekt berichten, bei dem sie die europäsche und asiatische Kultur vergleicht.
Das Büro Vier5, das durch seine Leitsystemgestaltung auf der diesjährigen Dokumenta aufgefallen ist.
Und Onlab, das Büro von Art-Director Nicolas Bourquin. Er hat seinem Schweizer Heimatdorf ein neues Corporate Design/Image verpasst.
