Schon als die Typo noch Fuse hieß sorgte Lilian-Astrid Geese mit ihrem Übersetzerinnen-Team für die internationale Verständigung der Kongressteilnehmenden in Berlin. Das passt, denn ihr beruflicher Schwerpunkt als Konferenzdolmetscherin (aiic) sind die schönen und komplexen Themen des Lebens: Design und Typografie, Theater, Film, Musik, Kunst, Architektur und Literatur, daneben Kultur- und Sozialwissenschaften, Philosophie und Soziologie.

Astrid hört und sieht man oft in der Dolmetschkabine oder auf der Bühne im Haus der Kulturen der Welt, bei der Berlinale, bei der qved, in der Schaubühne, im HAU und bei Europan. Sie ist Chefdolmetscherin des internationalen literaturfestivals berlin (ilb) und des Internationalen Frauenfilmfestivals Dortmund (IFFF), schreibt Rezensionen, bloggt gelegentlich für berlin-ist.de und bespielt auf ihrer Website www.comunicada.de die virtuelle Galerie vue comunicada mit wechselnden Ausstellungen befreundeter Fotografen und Fotografinnen.

Which makes perfect sense, since her areas of expertise as a conference interpreter (aiic) lie in the lovely, yet complex areas of design and typography, theatre, film, music, art, architecture and literature, alongside cultural and social studies, philosophy and sociology.

You’ll often see Astrid in the interpreting booth or onstage at Berlin’s House of World Cultures, Schaubühne or HAU theatres, or the Berlin International Film Festival, not to mention the qved design conference and at Europan. She is Chief Interpreter for the ilb international festival of literature in Berlin and the International Women’s Film Festival Dortmund (IFFF), writes reviews, and occasionally blogs at berlin-ist.de.

Her website, www.comunicada.de, boasts a virtual gallery, vue comunicada, showcasing the work of friends’ photography, and currently showing Heike Rost. Astrid translates from English, French and Spanish and works regularly for the FontFont blog, the monthly magazine Theater der Zeit, and Salzburg’s avant-garde Sommerszene festival.
