Design, illustration or »imagemaking«?

Type and image are combined in the work of Rian Hughes, type designer, logo designer and illustrator.
Working across disciplines, his work incorporates type as an essential part of the illustration and imagemaking process. Though this melding of disciplines may be seen as a recent trend, made possible by the Mac, it has its roots in the poster work of people like Jean Carlu, Cassandre and Alphonse Mucha.
