Making Furore: Adventures in Zine-land

In the early 1970s, to amuse himself and his friends, Dutch graphic designer Piet Schreuders began publishing small newsletters or ‘zines’. Some of these, such as FURORE and De Poezenkrant, grew into actual periodicals that still exist today; others were deliberately kept obscure or even completely secret (The Explorer, Brooklyn Berichten, MacTimes, Beau Hunks Gazette, De Wolkenkrabber and many others). These magazines reflect Piet’s passion, obsessions, hobbies and professional interests. This highly personal talk includes rare film clips, old negatives and never before shown unique specimens from Schreuders’ archive plus a glimpse of current projects and future publications.
