Before he founded PlanetOut, Tom dreamed up and co-founded Digital Queers, a national organization of technology professionals and aficionados who support GLBT community groups with their expertise. He learned his biz savvy as a marketing executive at Farallon, Voyager, and Supermac/Radius. In 1995, Tom assembled the beginnings of the team that would become PlanetOut. Together they built a business plan and obtained start-up funding for the first-ever gay company backed by venture capital. On the rare day when Tom’s not working, his passions include watching movies, performing stand-up comedy, and shopping for new Alain Miklis specs. He notes that either Chris O’Donnell or Antonio Banderas would be fine with him. Tom also owns the world’s largest collection of business cards.
