Thomas Rempen

He was born in 1945.

After passing the equivalent of A levels, he studied at the art academy in Stuttgart and at the arts and crafts college in Wuppertal. Advertising interested him and, after studying, he became a graphic artist at Doyle, Dane, Bernbach in Düsseldorf. Only two years later, he set up his own company: Hildmann, Simon, Rempen & Schmitz. The Düsseldorf agency is one of the best shops in Germany by the time Thomas Rempen leaves.

In 1994, Thomas Rempen takes up a new challenge with new partners, a new programme and the new agency Rempen & Partner. In only its second year the agency is voted newcomer agency of the year. Today it is based in Düsseldorf and Munich with four associate companies and a payroll of more than 170 holding over 30 accounts.

Thomas Rempen is a member of the German Art Directors Club, a member of the Siemens design board and on the presiding committee of the Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen.

He develops architectural projects for himself and for others in cooperation with architects like Ettore Sottsas, Zaha Hadid, Frank O. Gehry, Rem Koolhaas and Jean Nouvel.
