Studio Dumbar was founded in 1977 and has offices in Rotterdam and Shanghai. The studio is a mix of individual creative talent, ambitious clients and projects with a wide variety of backgrounds. It is renowned for both its corporate, and its cultural and public projects, such as the visual identity of the Dutch National Government, the much debated poster series for the Amsterdam Sinfonietta, the Dutch Police Force, the road signing programme for South Korea and the European Design Festival held in Rotterdam.

Gert Dumbar (*1949) studied painting and graphic design at the Royal College of Art in London.
