Phillipp Stamm

Stamm trained as a typesetter and studied visual communication. His thesis, »expanding the Latin alphabet for the German language«, suggests an approach to type design that would integrate the missing phonetic symbols into the Latin alphabet without seriously reducing its readability. He co-owns feinherb, visual design. Heidrun Osterer & Philipp Stamm, Basel. He is an assistant professor of typography and type design at the college of design and art in Basel. He is a co-founder and member of the technical commission for the Swiss Foundation for Type and Typography. His book with Heidrun Osterer, »Adrian Frutiger – Typefaces: the Complete Works«, was published in 2008.
