Martin Majoor

Martin Majoor has been a typographer since 1980 and currently works in Arnheim and Warsaw. In about 1990, he designed the type families Scala and Scala Sans, which were published by Fontshop International as its first serious typeface in the FontFont library. In 1994 he designed the typefaces still used for the Dutch telephone directories, i.e. Telefon List and Telefon Text. Majoor received several awards in 2001 for his Seria and Seria Sans fonts (ISTD International TypoGraphic Awards 2001 in London, ATypI Type DesignCompetition Bukva:raz! in Moscow). He led the way in 2004 when FontShop International placed his FF Nexus on the market as its first open type font. He lectures at several art schools and speaks at the AtypI Conferences in Antwerp, Paris, San Francisco, Barcelona und Prague. Majoor has also written for magazines such as Items, 2+3D and Eye.
