Marion Averbeck

Marion Averbeck was born in 1973, completed an Abitur certificate in 1993, and from 1993 to 1995 studied veterinary medicine. From 1995 to 1996 she studied political science and philosophy at the University of Hannover, during which time she also compiled a portfolio in order to apply for design study. From 1996 to 2000 she studied visual communication at the FH of Art and Design in Hannover, where she completed a diploma in design. At the end of 1996 she undertook practical training at the advertising agency ‘look.’ Another period of practical training followed in the Spring of 1997 at Springer & Jacoby, and afterwards she worked as freelance graphic artist in Hamburg (for Kolle and Rebbe, Maria, among others). After giving birth to her daughter, Lia Marie, she moved back to Hannover, but Plan B in Berlin followed: the “one pregnant woman show,” and communication concepts and design for conferences and events. In the autumn of 2001 she founded her own company, Plantage, situated in a backyard in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Today she has 15 employees and clients including Gun Sails, Schering, Mauritius, Universal, Brand Eins, and Nike, among others.
