Anita Kern was born in Vienna and holds a master’s of art and a PhD. She studied graphic design with Kurt Schwarz and Tino Erben, advertising with Walter Lürzer and did her PhD in cultural and intellectual history, all at Vienna’s college (later university) of applied arts. She has worked as a graphic designer at various advertising agencies and graphics workshops, including from 1995 – 2008 at Rumpelhuber + Kern in Vienna and, since 2008, at the newly founded communication design office Kerndesign. She is also an author and curator.
