The owner and founder of Knock Knock, Jen Bilik has a background in book editing, writing, design, and arts and crafts. Knock Knock’s witty, design-driven books, gifts, and stationery products are sold in 6,000 stores across the United States.
Thomas Phinney joins us for this week’s Focus Forum.
Phinney is vice president of FontLab in Portland, Oregon. He is also a freelance type consultant, font detective, and type designer. He previously spent five years at Extensis creating webfonts and font management tools, and over a decade at Adobe as product manager for fonts and global typography.
At Typo Chip Kidd will talk about the graphic designer’s everyday life in New York, and what influences him.

After some introduction and teasing from Erik Spiekermann, Chip Kidd stepped on stage. He thanked Erik, and announced that “You make me feel like Lady Gaga, only with bigger breasts.” What was to follow was an hour of impeccable comic timing, dramatic pauses and eyebrow raises, he had the audience in stitches with barely a handful of words.
