Born and raised in Mexico City, Garza is a brand strategist with 25 years of experience in the global marketplace with particular focus on US and Latin America. He is the founder and CEO of Garza Group Communications, with offices in Los Angeles and Mexico City, the company is dedicated to helping clients be understood, remembered, and preferred by their audiences.
Today Focus Forum catches up with creative director, windsurfer, and father: Daniel Gjøde.
Hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark, Daniel founded Stupid Studio in 2006 – an independent digital creative agency set out to do stuff for good companies, who believe they can change stuff to the better, funnier, or simply more comfortable. He’s also a board member of Design Denmark and the Advisory Board of the Danish School of Media & Journalism.
Jen Bilik joins us for this week’s Focus Forum.
The owner and founder of Knock Knock, Jen Bilik has a background in book editing, writing, design, and arts and crafts. Knock Knock’s witty, design-driven books, gifts, and stationery products are sold in 6,000 stores across the United States.
Thomas Phinney joins us for this week’s Focus Forum.
Phinney is vice president of FontLab in Portland, Oregon. He is also a freelance type consultant, font detective, and type designer. He previously spent five years at Extensis creating webfonts and font management tools, and over a decade at Adobe as product manager for fonts and global typography.
Focus Forum is excited to introduce a local San Franciscan to our series. This week we speak to Arin Fishkin, an independent graphic designer who creates brands and materials for unique San Francisco businesses.
Arin Fishkin Graphic Design has been creating award winning work in the Mission Disctrict of San Francisco for over 15 years. She also creates art prints based on her favorite SF spots, and is an enthusiastic photographer documenting the Paniolo culture of Maui, and the landscape and artwork of Burning Man.
It’s a new week and we’ve got a new Focus Forum with TYPO SF speaker Alastair Johnston.
Alastair Johnston is a partner at Poltroon Press in Berkeley, California. He taught college level courses in typography for over 30 years. He has published scores of books and won the Award of Excellence in the AIGA Just Type Show.

Mark Simonson is an independent type designer working out of his home in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Over the span of his career he has designed over a dozen typefaces, perhaps most notably the Proxima Nova family.
