Boris Brumnjak ist Sammler, Dozent, Grafikdesigner und Geschäftsführer einer Druckerei, in der er seine Liebe zum Papier und zu Farben ausleben kann. Seit etwa 15 Jahren sammelt er mit größter Leidenschaft Schwarz-Weiß-Plakate. Im letzten Jahr wurden erstmals seine 100 absoluten Lieblingsmotive der Öffentlichkeit präsentiert und begeisterte in der »Kunsthalle Luzern« nicht nur die Besucher.
He is one of the most influential and at the same time one of the most controversial designers of our time – David Carson. He impressed a whole generation of graphic designers, his talks are well remembered … And of course, his answers on our little Q&A are also unique … short and to the point! We are looking foward to TYPO Berlin where he’ll serve us one hour of cool graphic design, surf images and things we have never seen before!
Rhythm Remarks wraps up this week with Elliot Earls. Earls is Artist-in-Residence and head of the Graduate Graphic Design Department at Cranbrook Academy of Art. His work as a designer, performer, and artist is represented in major collections including the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, The Wolfsonian Museum, and The Miami Art Museum.
Rhythm Remarks is back again with our next speaker, George Zisiadis. Zisiadis is an interactive artist and designer who’s interdisciplinary projects playfully re-imagine the everyday and inspire people to see the world in new ways.
In this edition of Rhythm Remarks we catch up with Sydney’s Gemma O’Brien. O’Brien is a typographer, hand-letterer, and illustrator who has been on FontShop’s radar since her experimental video in which she covered her body with hand lettering.

Julie K. Andersen and Stig Møller Hansen are both lecturer at the Danish School of Media and Journalism. Whereas Julie is all about tangible pieces crafted by hand in laborious techniques like knitting, crochetting and so forth, like the project she showed at TYPO 2013 (watch video), Stig as an interactive designer and coder sees code as a creative tool for the designer. AT TYPO Berlin 2014 they’ll talk about their collaboration “Man vs. Machine” where it’s all about combining these two approaches to produce something new that has the qualities from each approach.
Fabian Hemmert ist Design Researcher mit dem Schwerpunkt Interaktionen zwischen Mensch und Technologie. Er ist PhD-Student am Research Lab der UdK Berlin. Vorher arbeitete er für Nintendo und Marvel.
