Kicking off TYPO 2014 tomorrow

We are proud to announce that TYPO 2014 is completely sold out! Tomorrow at 10 am the 19th TYPO Berlin will be opening its doors. The opening speech by Holm Friebe will commence at 2 pm. There will be a simultaneous translation with free headsets handed out in front of the entrance of  TYPO Hall. Almost 80 speakers will be putting together the programme on 3 stages; students from design courses in Germany will be taking over TYPO Nest, our fourth stage.

Happenings at TYPO – $1/Minute

I hope you had a chance to visit the $1/MINUTE participatory creative workshop set up by Ana Llorente & Davey Whitcraft of Strangeways Academy. Throughout the past two days, conference attendees had the opportunity to place requests (and name their price) for projects that were fulfilled by the workshop directors and rotating guest creatives – open to anyone who wanted to participate.

Happenings at TYPO – Feel The Rhythm

Us is a de-centralized design collective that explores non-traditional methods of process and collaboration. In response to this year’s theme of rhythm, they have set up an interactive workshop where conference attendees generate hand crafted poster art by working within (and against) established parameters, taking inspiration from the elements provided while exercising creative liberty to remix and re-imagine.

Juedisches Museum

Exklusives Gerrit-Noordzij-Interview: Making-of

Er ist der einflussreichste Typedesign-Lehrer unserer Zeit: Gerrit Noordzij (82). Von 1960 bis 1990 war er Professor für Schriftdesign an der Königlichen Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Den Haag, wo er bedeutende Schriftentwerfer direkt oder indirekt prägte, darunter Petr und Erik van Blokland, Jelle Bosma, Albert Jan Pool, Peter Verheul, Rudy Vanderlans, Just van Rossum, Albert Pinggera, Martin Wenzel, Frank Blokland, Luc(as) de Groot, Peter Matthias Noordzij, Hannes Famira und viele mehr. Auch die Werke der jüngsten Typedesign-Generation basieren auf den Theorien von Noordzij, zum Beispiel bei Ján Filípek, Martina Flor, Frank Grießhammer, Slávka Pauliková, Yanone und Alexander Roth.
