The Tattly Randomizer at TYPO SF 2014

We’re excited to announce that the Tattly Randomizer will be at TYPO SF 2014! What is the Tattly Randomizer, you ask? Imagine the mini vending machines that would take your quarters and spit out a random temporary tattoo when you were a kid. Now, replace the cheesy designs you remember with creative, “designy” illustrations and images, and you have the Tattly Randomizer!

TypoTalks: How did Tattly get started?
Nic Annette Miller: Tired of putting poorly designed temporary tattoos on her daughter’s arm, Tina Roth Eisenberg took matters into her own hands. After soliciting a dozen world renowned artists and designers, hiring the first two team members, and learning what a temporary tattoo was actually made of, Tattly began moving at full force.

TT: Which Tattly artists have been involved with TYPO SF?
NAM: Lisa Congdon (2014), Jessi Arrington (2013), Jessica Hische (2012), Christoph Niemann (2013), Kelli Anderson (2013), Marian Bantjes (2013), Mike Monteiro (2012 & 13), and of course Tina (2012)!

TT: Who is the Tattly client base?
NAM: Kids and kids at heart!

TT: Which design is your favorite?
NAM: Let Go by Christoph Niemann

TT: How many designs did you start with and how many do you have now?
NAM: We started with 15 designs and 2 1/2 years later we have over 400 now. We release a new design every week through our Tattly Tuesday Newsletter.

TT: What are the most popular Tattly’s?
NAM: Definitely the Feather by Jen Mussari – that girl is killing it these days. Also Arrows by Wesley Stucky and Cartolina Blooms by Fiona Richards.

TT: Sometimes people hack your Tattly’s. What are the best mods you’ve seen?
NAM: Recently I came across Pigasaurous Rex by checking #tattly on Instagram. It’s amazing. Pig by Julia Rothman and T Rex by Peagreen Designs.

TT: And just for fun, what’s the largest order you’ve ever fulfilled?
NAM: We ship around the world and people have really been getting into Tattly Parlor Stations for their weddings. But recently we did a GE Custom Tattly where 2,000 were given away in one night. None of us saw that coming.
