I want to attend TYPO London because being diagnosed with Dyslexia has always left me with a fear of the written word. I did not let this stop me learning and now typography fascinates me. I recently have become a qualified graphic designer and I feel TYPO London would open up some excellent opportunities to expand on my knowledge and increase my interest!

  3. Karmen|September 29, 2011

  65. Courtney Starr|September 29, 2011

I want to attend TYPO London Because…

In trying to understand why I am so captivated by letter forms, I’ve discovered a few things. Perhaps letters are a bit like people. Their variety is virtually unmatched, they reflect the nature of their creator, communicate on multiple levels, speak all sorts of languages, and you can pin them to a map as if they had skin tone, culture, and an accent.

Perhaps, if we listened more to letters, really listened, we’d hear what they have to say. I hope to facilitate this type of observance, and I know the speakers at TYPO London do frequently. That said, I would love to attend in order to absorb and contribute.

  66. Cilas Nascimento|September 29, 2011

Typophile Hello dear friends! Personally, I was twenty-five years graphic designer and love of typography and my wife left me … I’m like Cadmus went looking for Europe, with – in his bag-to-back – the “Dragon’s Teeth” (the letters of the alphabet) … I met Adrian Frutiger in 1982 for an exclusive interview in his studio near Paris … I see my friend Nick Jenkins in London … But now I live alone and works as a security guard … should the wheel of fate turns positive again for me I plan to rebuild … Thank you, friends Typophile. With all my heart!

  129. Dusit Neramit-aram|September 30, 2011

I am a senior student studying in Communication Design in Bangkok, Thailand.

Growing up and studying here for 21 years, I only see and learn from one small part of the entire world.

The opportunity to attend the first TYPO London inspires me so much as I can explore new things and learn from various cultures and histories this great city have had for more than one thousand years.

Because London has been a center of all kinds of arts since sixteenth century until now, I really wish I could be able to step in this city, be inspired by world greatest designers, and experience TYPO London in a real life.

  130. Oscar|September 30, 2011

I want to attend TYPO London because … errr… i don’t want to attend TYPO London I NEED IT bloody hell!.

I’ve been on drugs for some years and my doctor told me the only solution would be involved in some sort of bigger addiction and you must believe me, I was crazy about drugs, once I even took some paracetamol! can you believe it…

My family was totally destroyed and my wife left me alone with a mortgage and flew to Australia with our 7 kids (Sharon, Michael, Ruth, Olivia, Eleanor, Daniel and Nick).

I didn’t know what to do (well, actually I did, just took more drugs) till I met this guy, he called himself ‘The Type Doctor’, and everything radically changed.

I started to use type for everything, as more time I spent with types, less drugs I did. Now, and after 8 years with no drugs and fully involved in the typography world I have a new life.My wife returned form Melbourne, my dad invites me again to his charity BBQ’s and my friends… well lets say that I’ve got new friends now.

Sometimes I’m walking in the street and I see the Pharmacy, is nice feeling that I’m not anymore thinking to get some drugs. The only thing I can see are that glorious green neon letters saying words and playing around in my head, I could even lick them…

But, as in every history there’s some people that have been side affected by my disconnection with the drugs world (oh lord, all thanks to typography!). My ex-dealer, Jhon, the tall and skinny fella that use to be every afternoon at the corner of Dalston tube station is now having a really bad time. I was his major client and due to the fact I quit from drugs, this dude had some serious money issues and the only thing he now does is taking tons of drugs to forget about his problems.

I really want to help him and many more in a similar situation with the help of typography, I truly believe typos can change the word.
I also need to keep me up with different talks, activities and simposiums about typography as now I’m really addicted and I don’t want to be back in the dark world of Boots.

TYPO London is a great opportunity for me to keep me steady, for my family and all the people I want to help through typography. THIS IS A CALL FOR HELP.

If quit, EVERYBODY CAN QUIT, get involved guys!

I want to attend TYPO London because…I’m a graphic design student with an obsession for type, I’m eager for inspiration and to learn as much as I can. TYPO London would be best place to start.

I recently found out my great-grandfather had 3 wives, not all at once, and my grandfather had 15 siblings (I knew of 3). I was invited to a reunion of the descendents of my great-grandfather in London this summer (which I attended and first-time visit to London) and now I want to go back.

Did I mention I’m a book designer and love type.

I want to attend TYPO London because I’m in my final year of Graphic Design at St. Lawrence College (in Ontario, Canada) and know I can’t afford it, but it would AMAZING to go learn from an international perspective and to bring that back to share with my classmates.

  138. Megan Norton|September 30, 2011

I would love to attend TYPO London because I am new to the Graphic Design community since last May, and within a year, I have fallen in love with typography, graphic design, and the creative world in which it encompasses. I thirst for knowledge and feel Conferences offer the best exposure to those in the industry who are most passionate about their work. Being taught by those who live, eat, and breathe their work exuberates inspiration, motivation, and contagious energy. It makes me want to run out and share the knowledge that I’ve received so others can feel the joy of typography and design like I do.

  143. David Robles|September 30, 2011

I would love to attend the TYPO London because as a graphic designer, typography is the base of my life. I need more knowledge to have a better life. Another reason is that I’ve never been in London, I would love it too.

  147. Kevin Janke|September 30, 2011

I want to attend TYPO London because that might push me over the edge…towards my life long dream of becoming a type designer…but alas…the asterisk notes that the prize doesn’t include travel or lodging. Anyone have some unused frequent flyer miles they’d like to gift?

  153. Monika Zając|September 30, 2011

… (there are few reasons) (1) because I’m a real type-geek; (2) It’s the perfect opportunity to be surrounded by typography freaks like me, and hear what they have to say; (3) You don’t have lower prices for eastern Europe (where I live); (4) and I’ve never won anything ;)

  157. Monique de Jong|October 3, 2011

I want to attend TYPO London because… i need inspiration and want to celebrate this first London design event with you all :)
Taking into account the upcoming, cold, (and for me uninspiring), winter days I am looking forward to plan this trip to London where I can feel the warmth of all designers hearts beating for typography. Especially attending lectures of Neville Brody, Chip Kidd and Erik Spiekermann have my interest. So I would looooove to come to London for this Typo Festival.
