Peter Constable is a Senior Program Manager in the Windows Graphics team at Microsoft, leading work on the DirectWrite text platform, font handling. He also maintains the OpenType specification, and led the cross-company collaboration to create the variable-font extensions to OpenType. In over 14 years at Microsoft, he has worked has worked on various aspects of internationalization and text display. He is also active in Unicode, ISO and IETF work on character coding and language coding.
In recent years, there has been a significant evolution of font capabilities in each semi-annual Windows 10 feature update. And the OpenType spec has also continued to evolve. This talk will describe significant new features coming to Windows 10 in the spring update, as well as the latest developments for the OpenType spec.
