With FontLab VI’s arrival, type designers on Mac and Windows alike have a tool at their disposal which makes the process of spacing and kerning font families much more streamlined. In his talk, Thomas will focus on FontLab VI’s Metrics Window, its uncluttered user interface that delivers a crisp spacing experience, will showcase the new mechanisms for working with class-based metrics and kerning, including linked metrics, kerning groups, optimized GPOS ‘kern’ feature generation and other gems.
