While the vast number of western cities is crowded by Helvetica letterings, Polish cities are crowded by Typopolo … This vernacular style of lettering is a result of DIY ethos and home-grown creativity of Polish small entrepreneurs. Polish graphic designer, Hakobo, has been first among the professionals to recognize typograpic potential of this grassroots design activity. His talk will be a visual guide on the most dodgy corners of his native post-industrial Łódź in search for the most overlooked examples of local visual language.
