Van Bo Le-Mentzel ist Architekt und Erfinder des One-Sqm-Houses, der Hartz IV Möbel und Herausgeber des gleichnamigen Buches (2012, Hatje Cantz). Außerdem hat mit dem Projekt Karma Chakhs eine neuen Form der Massenproduktion initiiert. Er lebt und arbeitet in Berlin.
Die Präsentation des Mannheimer Designers Julian Zimmermann und des afrikanischen Königs Céphas Bansah auf der Bühne der Logan Hall – spontan simultanübersetzt von Erik Spiekermann – war einer der Höhepunkte der TYPO London.
Intrigued by the title, I was totally bewildered as to what the next hour in the Logan Hall would bring. Not only was Julian Zimmermann going to showcase the work created for his client King Bansah, but the King himself was in residence to talk us through his story.
Gary Hustwitt loves Graphic Designer. So much so that he decided to make a film about it. Despite never picking up a camera before ‘Helvetica’ marked his directorial debut, and his fascination with typography was brought to life. 4 years and another film, ‘Objectified’ later, Hustwitt treated the TYPO Audience to a sneak peak of his new offering, ‘Urbanized’, and they weren’t disappointed. As with his previous offerings the succinct title nods towards the subject matter, cities and buildings, though instead of form it focusses on the people that live within cities, and the strong sense of community spirit that takes shape in many forms.
