Petr van Blokland: Designer update, what’s next?

What’s next in 15 years? Can we know? And more importantly, assuming we don’t know what’s going to happen next, where do we start with anticipating change? ‘Shift’ is the theme of this year’s TYPO Berlin and boy; did Petr van Blokland talk about a shift. In a sixty minute during whirlwind van Blokland introduced the audience to his vision of the future designer. In his presentation Van Blokland explores the old and the new, breaking up principles and believes by introducing things like ‘Automated Design’, calling InDesign an obsolete dinosaur and a confronting truth on numbers.

Instead of dropping one passion to focus on the other, Jason combined both by exploring new ways of creating and reading digital texts. Jason Edward Lewis is a digital media artist, poet and software designer. He founded Obx Laboratory for Experimental Media, where he directs research/creation projects devising new means of creating and reading digital texts and using virtual environments to assist Native communities in preserving, interpreting and communicating cultural histories. His creative work has been featured at the Ars Electronica Center, ISEA, SIGGRAPH, Urban Screens, Mobilefest and imagineNATIVE, among other venues.
