If you read books chances are you have already held in your hands some of Jon Gray’s work. As gray318 he designs book covers and according to Steven Heller, Gray started the revival of hand-lettering with his 2002 cover for Jonathan Safran Foer’s novel “Everything is Illuminated”. In his talk at TYPO Berlin he compares book cover design to cooking to explain the raw materials and recipes of his work.

The first thing we see when designer and type experimentalist Fraser Muggeridge enters the stage is not himself, but his flashing yellow trousers he wears. It’s stated clear: This is going to be raavvvy!
Paul McNeil and Hamish Muir gave a very detailed and colorful overview of what it means to make type systems. They also took the audience through range of outputs, including books full of unique glyph creations to bright, colorful, geometric posters for exhibition openings. Think of this as typographic contemporary art.
Rhythm Remarks is back again with Dan Rhatigan. Rhatigan is a typeographer, typeface designer, and the UK type director for Monotype. He has also taught part-time at the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in the Netherlands.
